The Museum offers a journey through the wine of San Gimignano.
The San Gimignano Vernaccia Wine Museum is a tribute to the quality and prestige of San Gimignano wine and its fortunes.
The wines produced in San Gimignano are:
- Vernaccia di San Gimignano ,
- San Gimignano Rosso
- San Gimignano Rosato
- San Gimignano Vinsanto
- and several IGT Toscana (Typical Geographical Indication).
Each year are produced about 9 million bottles a year of which 70% is sold abroad and the rest on the home market.
The Museum, designed by architect Duccio Santini, is housed in the Villa della Rocca di Montestaffoli the highest point of the town from which you can see all the vineyards of the region.
All better wines of the region can be tasted with the wise guide of a sommelier that can give information about the whole wine production process.
The Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Road Association runs the museum and also regularly organises wine tastings and visits to the farms.
