Alto Adige Vineyards

Excellent Red Wines from the Heart of the Health Resort Landscape

The extremely mild, balanced climate and the light to moderately heavy sandy soils form the perfect conditions in Merano [Meran] and vicinity for Alto Adige wine. In addition to the wines made from Schiava [Vernatsch], which ripen in the area around Merano also known as the Burgraviato [Burggrafenamt] and which are used for the “Alto Adige Meranese (Südtirol Meraner)” DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin), the red wines Pinot Noirand Merlot also prove that they are very much at home in the area around Merano. The acidity of the wines from Merano, which is always present as a result of the soil composition, not only has a positive effect on drinkability, but also extends the ability to age the wines.

Most important varieties: Schiava, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc
